As discussed in the class last week, the lecture will include students' active participation as the implementation of the Student-centered learning approach. One of the ways is by requiring students to learn various related subjects and the give presentation in front of the class.  Based on the references given (books by Silberschatz or Tanenbaum, and other local books), please prepare yourselves to learn and present the topics as follows:

  1. Process
  2. Threads
  3. Process synchronization
  4. CPU Scheduling
  5. Deadlock
  6. Memory Management
  7. Virtual Memory
  8. File System Interface
  9. Mass Storage

Who should be the group member for group 1, group 2 and so on? To determine the group members and organize the presentation, please follow the rule below:

  1. Check your position of order in the presence list and calculate your group ID using formula : group ID = (your_order_number mod 9)+1. For example, if in the presence list you are in position 12, then your group should be Group 4, together with those who are in position 21 and 3. In this case your group should present the topic of CPU Scheduling
  2. Presentation should be not less than 80 minutes.  The rest of the time of that day will be used for discussion
  3. The first group will give presentation on 06 October 2009, and the following week would belobg to  group 2, and so on
  4. Each group member should give presentation, not just represented by one spoke-person
